COMPREHENSIVE DATA CENTER EXPANSION PROJECT
Highlights:
- The project included the replacement of network infrastructure (LAN, SAN), computing infrastructure (servers), centralized disk resources (disk arrays) in the existing data center and the construction of a new data center.
- In the project, we used Cisco networking equipment, Nexus switches produced especially for Data Center environments, Catalyst series campus switches, 8500 routers and MDS SAN switches.
- We configured VMware vSphere virtualization software as well as an NSX Distributed Firewall and a Veeam Backup & Replication backup system.
- We used Dell servers as the computing infrastructure. Each data center has its own computing and disk resources and two independent Internet connections.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
High customer requirements regarding data center reliability.
The need to locate resources in non-adjacent server rooms.
Carry out a seamless deployment (without affecting the organization’s operations).
KEY STEPS
1/6
Selecting a solution – the Cisco HyperFlex Stretched Cluster hyperconverged system and All Flash servers equipped with SSD drives for fast access to databases were chosen as the best solutions.
2/6
Installing the equipment– setting up servers equipped with disks forming a common disk pool, deployed in two different locations.
3/6
Implementing a data replication mechanism – configuring virtual machine data synchronization between two locations to ensure service continuity.
4/6
Integrating with Vmware – leveraging Vmware vSphere features (HA, DRS, vMotion) to ensure high availability and automated resource management.
5/6
Conducting failure – simulating emergency situations, such as power or air conditioning failure, verifying that services can be switched without disruption.
6/6
Migrating services – moving critical IT services (DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, real-time systems) to the new infrastructure.
